Guaranteed Rate Field’s History
The original Comiskey Park was built in 1910 and was home to the Chicago White Sox. The stadium was named after its owner, Charles Comiskey, who was also the team’s manager. In 1960, the stadium was renamed U.S. Cellular Field after a naming rights deal with the U.S. Cellular.
In 2003, the stadium underwent a major renovation, which included the addition of a new upper deck, expanded concourses, and new concession stands. The renovation also included the installation of a new video board and a new sound system.
